A vehicle position sensor integrated with a weighbridge is a system designed to accurately detect and monitor the position of a vehicle on a weighing platform. This ensures that the vehicle is properly aligned during weighing, eliminating errors due to partial loading or misplacement. The system enhances accuracy, efficiency, and automation in weighing operations at industrial sites, logistics hubs, and toll plazas.
The weighbridge uses load cells to measure the total weight of a vehicle. To ensure the accuracy of this reading, the vehicle must be correctly positioned on the platform. The vehicle position sensor detects whether the vehicle is fully within the weighing zone before the system captures the weight data.
Position detection can be achieved through:
- Infrared (IR) sensors or ultrasonic sensors placed at the ends of the weighbridge.
- Laser distance sensors to detect vehicle entry and exit points.
- Inductive loop detectors embedded in the surface to sense vehicle presence.

When the vehicle enters the platform:

- If the vehicle is not properly positioned, a signal or alert prevents weighing and notifies the operator.
